In the past I have worked intensively with people with drug and alcohol related problems. Acupuncture has become very popular as a tool for detoxification from drug and alcohol. There is little modern literature available in the UK about the use of Homeopathy. However, we know that the Indian government now sponsor as least six detox centres which utilise Homeopathy for detox. I have attended presentations by the researcher who was involved from the start with these programmes.
Whilst working in a community alcohol team and a community drug treatment agency I was able to explore the use of Homeopathy for a range of addictive behaviours. I have utilised Homeopathy alone to detox clients from: alcohol, heroin, tranquillisers (Valium), and other drugs. It has proved successful where previous approaches had failed.
More importantly I have found that Homeopathy can be very effective at helping people recover and become physically and mentally much healthier once the detox has cleared the system of drugs.
One area in which Homeopathy has proved effective is in the area of sleep disorder and addiction. I did some research into this with case studies, published in the Journal of Complementary Medicine in Nursing.
