Hello. I have been in practice as a Homeopath for some fifteen years now. After
leaving university I first trained as a psychiatric nurse. Quickly becoming
disillusioned with the realities of working in mental health services, and also
finding it stressful I developed what was diagnosed as irritable bowel syndrome. I
tried many treatments. The only thing which helped was a consultation with a
homeopathic G.P. The treatment he gave made a dramatic difference.
| I
soon read everything I could find about Homeopathy and enrolled on a professional
training course. I trained in Manchester and Gateshead and five years later gained
registration with the society of Homeopaths.
I continued to work part time in mental health for a number of years, specialising
in work with addictions, particularly alcohol dependence.

Currently, in addition to my practice I teach at the University of Lincoln, on their
Complementary Medicine degree course and also on several mental health modules.
I am a very keen long distance runner and have, in the past done sponsored runs for
organisations such as the Natural Medicines Society. In 1991 for example, I ran from
the Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital to the London Homeopathic Hospital to raise money
for the Natural Medicines Society and then presented a petition at 10 Downing St.
With this experience I do have an interest in mental health, addictions and sports
related problems. However, in my daily practice I treat a whole range of presenting
problems and see people from infancy to ripe old age.
Like most Homeopaths I have a lot of success in helping people with chronic/long
term conditions which do not respond well to conventional medicine. Examples
include: hay fever, migraine, eczema, asthma, IBS, Hormone related problems,
arthritis, chronic fatigue, depression, anxiety.
Homeopathy is both art and science. It continues to be mysterious and fascinating
and to offer a beautiful symmetry between people and the elements of the universe
around them.
At the same time it is grounded in sound empirical science and I am keen to see
research being done and to continue to build the bridges which will provide a sound
basis for the even wider acceptance of Homeopathy as the foremost system of
medicine.
See my research page for more information.
